RYA Courses on Annabel J

This is a great opportunity to learn sailing and seamanship skills on board Annabel J and achieve RYA qualifications. What better yacht to carry out your RYA training on!

Spend 7 days on board Annabel J with 2 RYA Instructors.

Three courses are on offer: RYA Start Yachting, RYA Competent Crew and RYA watchleader.
The watchleader course is identical to the Dayskipper except you will not be expected to manouver Annabel J in and out of her moorings. The Watchleader course is ideal for those wanting to act as Mate on larger vessels such as Annabel J. The details are as follows:

RYA Start Yachting Course:

The RYA Start Yachting course is an introduction to yacht sailing for complete beginners. By the end of the course you will have experienced steering, sail handling, ropework, and be aware of safety on board. See below for a more detailed syllabus.

Previous Experience:
None. The RYA Start Yachting practical sailing course course is structured for complete beginners aiming to become experienced crew and move on to the Competent Crew course.

Course Duration: 7 days.

RYA Competent Crew Course:

The RYA Competent Crew 7 day hands-on practical sailing course provides confidence and knowledge in sailing a cruising yacht In a relaxed and fun environment. You will participate in all aspects of yachting including; helming, sail trim, mooring & safety. The aim is to become a valuable and competent crew member on a cruising yacht.

Previous Experience:
None. The RYA Competent Crew practical sailing course course is structured for beginners aiming to become experienced crew.

RYA Competent Crew Course Syllabus

Course Duration: 7 days.

RYA Watchleader Practical Course.

The RYA Watchleader course covers all aspects of skippering Annabel J, including boat handling, navigation, pilotage and seamanship skills. This course allows you to put your shore based course knowledge in to practice under the guidance of 2 professional Instructors.

Previous Experience:
5 days sailing, 100 miles logged and 4 night hours. Able to demonstrate navigation knowledge to RYA Day Skipper shore based level.
