Sail Around Britain on Annabel J. 2013 is the 10th anniversary of Annabel J Classic Sailing Holidays and the Old Gaffers Association 50th anniversary.

To celebrate the OGA 50, an Around Britain Sailing Challenge event is being organized and we will be one of the lead boats to sail around Britain. A fleet of classic yachts will sail around Britain and there will be welcome receptions and social events at major ports en-route. The map and table below shows the schedule for boats starting in the Solent area. We will be joined along the way by classic boats from France, Holland, Ireland, Scotland and all parts of the UK. This is your chance to have the sail of your lifetime; over 3 months sailing, covering approximately 2000 miles in one of the finest of classic yachts – Annabel J a 54ft Bristol Pilot Cutter. Please register your interest to enquire about availability and to receive news updates.  The map below shows a plan of the Old Gaffers Association event with proposed event dates and main Challenge ports. Smaller vessels will plan to navigate through the Caledonian Canal, whereas Annabel J and the larger yachts will visit the Orkney and Shetland Isles.

Sign on for a leg or the whole voyage. We will stop at several ports en-route which will give an opportunity for guests to join or leave. However, if you can afford to take the summer off, why not join us for the entire event? RYA Qualifications. For those wishing to cover the RYA syllabus for Competent Crew or Watchleader, instructors will be on board to run the courses. Please see our RYA Courses page for details of the syllabus etc. How much will it cost? This is a once-in-a-lifetime event and places are very limited. We have divided the voyage into chunks of approx 2 - 3 weeks and have tried to keep the joining ports as accessible as possible, or you can do the whole voyage. Prices start at just £90/day full board. The itinerary is shown below. Shown is a suggested list of ports visited. As for any sailing voyage this may be subject to change due to vagaries of weather and other conditions.

The schedule has been planned very conservatively to allow for the vagaries of the weather and to allow plenty of time to explore along the way. The schedule is designed in line with the Old Gaffers celebrations and we will accompany the fleet at all major ports. However, we will sail to our own pace and split from the fleet occasionally to suit the aspirations of the crew.
